Questions n.n

10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
*I am going to make a Flipbook to help better explain what the design cycle is and a fun and simple way to explain it to the 6th graders.

11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
*To be able to explain the design cycle, know the design cycle, and show the design cycle in complete detail.

12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
*The only limitation that we have is that the presentation has to be at least 2 minutes long. Also it has to explain the design cycle steps and has to be created on Flipbook. Also it can't be to distracting and gets straight to the point. It has to be simple for the 6th graders to understand.

13. How will you "test" your project?
*To survey the 6th graders on how well they thought your project explain to them the design cycle and if it was entertaining or not. The survey will contain questions such as describe the four steps of the design cycle. Also they would answer if it was entertaining or not and if it was simple to understand. The survey will have 20 various questions of this types of questions and if they get more than 70% right (15 out of 20) then that means that my project was a succsess!

Summary;)

The problem we have to do is to explain to a 6th grader about the design cycle. This would help them by realizing that there is a format and process to do things like when you're going to create something like; a website, project, or something else for the public eye. We had to investigate two ways that we could of done our project. One was flipbook the other was comicbook. These two websites both make a cartoon and we had to rate them on what they showed such as simpicity or options. After that we brianstormed three 3 idea that we had in our head. We had to describe the three idea and post them on our blog.  I picked Flipbook and a brainstorm idea. I am ready to go and design my brainstorm.

3 BRAINSTORMING

Design 1
page1- a man looks into a magnifying glass.
page2- a lady comes up to him crying and holds up a picture of her daughter.
page3- the man brainstorms ideas of what he could do to find the little girl.
page4- he picks one of his brainstorming ideas.
page5- he uses a dog to sniff out the girl.
page6- at the end he finds the girl and he gives her hug.
page7- the girl runs to the mother and they have a happy ending.

Design 2
page1- a girl losses her teddy bear at school.
page2- she tells her teacher, but the teacher tells her that there is nothing that she can do.
page3- the girl gets mad and storms off.
page4- when the girl goes to recess she thinks of ideas that she could do to find her teddy bear.
page5- she goes back to her class room and she questions ever person in her class and looks in their backpack.
page6- the girl finds her teddy bear in one of the little boys backpack.
page7- the boy gets in trouble and the girl gets her teddy back.

Design 3
page1- a man whats to create a new jellybean flavor for JellyBelly.
page2- he brainstorms all different flavors for the new jellybean that he think would be good.
page3- he tastes them and creates a scoring of the rating he thought they tasted the best.
page4- he then picks the best flavor (Coca-Cola) and gives out free samples of how the public thought of his creation.
page5- the coca-cola jellybean is now a new flavor of JellyBelly.

which one i choose:
I choose design 2 because i thought that it was the one that described the design cycle the best and is the one who the 6th graders might enjoy, and relate to the most. Therefore, that is the reason I choose Design 2 to do on Flipbook.

Comicbook:

Measurement
Score (1-5)
Simplicity
3
Options
4
Enjoyment
2
Total
9

I gave Comicbook a 3 for simplicity because it was simple enough to do without direction but every now and then i had a few questions of how to do certian things. I sometimes got confused and had to undo a lot of things because i messed up on them or i did it wrong.

I gave Comicbook a 4 for options because it had more options than Flipbook, but it didn't have that many, but it still had a varity of options therefore you could do multipul ideas as you liked with no restrictiond because you had the iteams to do it.

I gave Comic book a 2 for enjoyment because it wasn't as fun as i would of liked but it wasn't as boring as reading a textbook would of been. I enjoied Flipbook a lot more than i did Comicbook, because i thought that i could do Flipbook for fun rather than just project and things of that nature.

In conclusion, i decided to pick Flipbook as the website i will design my project with.
FlipBook:

Measurement
Scale (1-5)
Simplicity

Options

Enjoyment

11

I gave Flipbook a 5 for simplicity beacause anyone with common sence would be able to create a good and well thought out cartoon without any direction. I belive that anyone would be able to use this website and have fun at doing it as well. It doesn't over whealm you with technical words that you do not understand an have to go to their help like just to have a bit of fun or do a project.

I gave Flipbook a 2 for options because it didn't have as many options, as far as; colors, shape tools, stapmsand/or ablility to uplaod your own music or sound. I thought it would have made my flipbook a much greater sucsess if it had on or more of these options avalable.

I gave Flipbook a 5 for enjoment beacause even though it was used for a project i still thought it was very fun and i even did a few flipbooks for fun on my down time. Even some of my friends in the other computer class who arn't doing the same assignment agreed that it was very enjoyable and they would do it themselves.

Day 2 investigation reflection

Today i researched flipbook and comic masters. Flipbook I found to be simpler and more of what i wanted, which is to make a cartoon rather than a comic. I decided to use flipbook for my project because it is more fun to use and i understand how to do it.  The comic strip i beive is more of a reading type that i can do with pen and paper, but flipbook its like a telivison show that you can watch on tv, or a comercial. I think it would be more entertaining to watch t=someting educational than to read something educational.

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world?
3. How will this project serve my community?
4. How can my learning help my community?
5. How do we live in relation to each other?
6. How does this help others?
7. What are the requirements for this assignment?
8. What is the Design Cycle?
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
